Terms of Service

Agreement

By accessing or using The Final Mile at thefinalmile.app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. We may update these terms from time to time — continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

The Service

The Final Mile is an online vehicle cemetery where former car owners can submit memorials for vehicles they have owned. Memorials are permanent public records that contribute to vehicle attrition data used by How Many Left, our companion vehicle survival intelligence platform.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.

Accounts

You must be 18 or older to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it.

You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and submitting memorials. Submitting a memorial for a vehicle you did not own, or providing a false VIN, is a violation of these terms.

User Content

You retain ownership of the content you submit — photos, obituaries, and stories. By submitting content, you grant The Final Mile a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, store, and use that content in connection with operating the service, including for vehicle attrition research.

You are solely responsible for content you submit. You agree not to submit content that is false, defamatory, obscene, infringing on third-party rights, or otherwise unlawful.

Memorials are permanent by design. We may remove content that violates these terms, but we do not guarantee removal on request.

Payments and Refunds

Premium upgrades, personalized URLs, and URL changes are digital goods delivered immediately upon payment. All sales are final. We do not offer refunds except in cases of verified technical failure on our end — contact support@thefinalmile.app within 7 days of purchase.

Payments are processed by Stripe. By making a payment, you also agree to Stripe's terms of service.

Memorial Gifts

Memorial gifts are voluntary personal transfers from visitors to former car owners. By leaving a gift, you acknowledge that it is a personal gift and not a charitable donation, and that it is non-refundable once processed.

By enabling gifts on your memorial, you agree to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement and acknowledge that you are responsible for reporting gift income in accordance with applicable tax laws.

The Final Mile charges a 5% platform fee on all gifts. We are not responsible for the tax implications of gifts received.

Personalized URLs

Personalized URLs are subject to availability. We reserve the right to reclaim URLs that violate our policies or infringe on trademarks. URL changes release the previous URL immediately — The Final Mile is not responsible for broken links resulting from a URL change.

Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Submit memorials for vehicles you did not own
• Submit false, defamatory, or misleading content
• Harass or impersonate other users
• Attempt to circumvent payment systems
• Scrape or bulk-download data without permission
• Use the service in any way that violates applicable laws

Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Final Mile is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that memorials will be permanently accessible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Final Mile shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
